Education is at the heart of Lilitha Solar’s socio-economic development programme, demonstrated by a number of programmes aimed at providing young children with an opportunity to develop in the areas of numeracy and literacy, through play and creative activities.

Our literacy and numeracy programme includes the construction of an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre in the Nonzwakazi community, which is being implemented by the Karoo Eisteddfod Trust.

“We have undertaken a community engagement process that entailed the setting up of home-based community play groups and simultaneously, are focused on improving centre-based programmes through upgrading infrastructure to the point where all centres receive a subsidy, introducing a standardized curriculum, training practitioners and providing adequate equipment and resources,” explained Abner Wagenaar, Economic Development Manager for Lilitha Solar.

This programme is building learner capacity, increasing learner enrolment and stimulating job creation.
