Lilitha Solar’s support of the Ethembeni Shelter for women, and children provides funding to ensure that gender based violence victim’s basic needs are met, including housing, clothing, food, toiletries, transport and telephone access.

Aimed at protecting and empowering women, as well as restoring families, the organization plays an important role in the community. A number of awareness campaigns and outreach programmes are run regularly and the shelter works to help victims of violence receive counselling from the Social Worker and/or Psychologist.

“We trust that our support will help to reduce gender-based violence, empower and protect victims and build family units In the surrounding communities,” said Abner Wagenaar, Economic Development Manager for Lilitha Solar.

The programme is implemented by registered NPO, Ethembeni Community & Trauma Centre.
